There is nothing worse than finding that perfect plant for the garden, then having it expire during the first hot spell or cold snap. All geographic areas of the planet have a climatic signature, the highs and lows of both temperature and humidity. Each plant has specific (some more than others) environmental requirements, and the two have to coincide in order for the plant to thrive.

When you are shopping for a plant, your local nurseryman should be able to inform you of that plants specific requirements - both climatic (Growing Zone) and any special care considerations. If this information is not available or if the nurseryman will not guarantee the plants survival, in the local climate, you should reconsider the purchase.
